Maria Blahutova soprano drammatico d’’agilità
Maria Blahutova entered the music profession in a non-traditional way after having achieved a diploma degree („med. univ. Dr.“) at the Faculty of Medicine of the Comenius University in Bratislava. Initially she decided to study church music at Diocesan Conservatory in Vienna and became a regular organist in several important churches of Vienna. In parallel with her church music practice, she choosed the singing art as her further way and studied solo voice at Prayner-Conservatory in Vienna. After a longer period of enforced health-based retirement, she resumed her singing career and attended private lessons with Carol Byers in Vienna, Janet Williams in Berlin and Gudrun Ayasse in Munich. She also gathered valuable experience through participating in various masterclasses and workshops (i. a. with Ildikó Raimondi, David Jones, Gabriela Dumitrescu, Hartmut Krones). At last a profound involvement with the tradition and methods of the old Italian school of singing as well as of the Golden Age became for soloist’s artistic ascent the decisive incentive. The authors such as P. F. Tosi, G. Mancini, A. M. Pellegrini Celoni, G. Concone, M. García II, F.  Lamperti, G. B. Lamperti, M. Marchesi, D. Stanley, J. Wilcox, E. Herbert-Caesari, D. Bloem-Hubatka, F. Husler and Y. Rodd-Marling, J. Stark, J. Kesting are essential inspiring sources in her striving for vocal precision. Her solo performances in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, Czechia and Slovakia are testimony to the intense concert activity. Her repertoire spans genres of musical periods from Baroque to Modern focused on lyric and dramatic coloratura fach. Thanks to her unique voice attributes, she effortlessly brings finesse and dramatic outbursts to her interpretation of the exposed Mozart´s roles,  the portrayals of the bel canto mad scenes and the zwischenfach parts of Verdi heroines. Her coloratura soprano sparkles with a natural tone with velvety shimmering timbre, carrying chest resonance and balanced vocal fullness in all registers, bel canto flexibility and agility and an impressive vocal range of more than three octaves with very confident glowing heights. Associated with these qualities are her masterfuly transporting intensity of tone and legato lines which enable a remarkable and wide range of styles and roles and so also are her highly demanding concert program constellations. As Lied singer she has been heard on a regular basis in various concert themes. Besides, there are solemn liturgical occasions and sacral concerts creating an important part of her solo performances. By chamber concert projects she concentrates with special delight on virtuoso rarities, including rarely performed opera and concert arias. She presents herself in various formations and works with renowned musicians as well as ensembles (a. o. with members of the Tonkünstler Orchestra, the Vienna State Opera Orchestra/Wiener Philharmoniker, the orchestra Bühne Baden, the orchestra of the Slovak National Theater). In a special way, her concert activity is marked by the inspired and fulfilling teamwork with her husband Jan Blahuta. At present, the concert series Trio Klang Zauber, Vita Voce, GalaArien alter Meister, Gebet in der Oper, Vibrato der Seele, Mozart und Belcanto - Juwelenarien, Verdi Drama Flair, Leiden schafft Oper, Chiaroscuro im Tanz der Koloratur, Vogel Echo Faszination, Große Meister und Volkslied, Wenn das Lied 2x betet, Panis Angelicus and the nonconcertant serie Im Anfang war das Wort voller Musik belong to her exclusive chamber music projects. Maria Blahutova is also dedicated to voice physiology and vocal training in the field of solo and choir singing and has extensive experience of the methods of the old Italian school of singing with special accent on the Golden Age. Apart from her life passion for artistic performance also a charitable mission in the field of health advice and assistance is near to her heart.
